The Jewish Academy supports families in applying for a number of Jewish Community and Non-Profit/Government Scholarships. Chinuch Yehudi, Oorah, and Nechomas Yisrael provides millions of dollars each year to support Jewish Families from public schools who transition their children to a Jewish Day School. Jewish Academy parent also receive valuable support from a number of government/non profit programs including Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK), Step-Up for Students, the McKay Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities, AAA Scholarship Foundation, and the Gardiner Scholarship programs. We also provide in-school tuition scholarships based on financial need.

Step Up For Florida & The Family Empowerment Scholarship

Documents required to apply are: 

  • Paystubs (30 consecutive days closest to when you submit your application). If self employed, 2021 Tax Return

  • Birth certificate if your child is entering kindergarten or sixth grade

  • Proof of residency for parents (i.e. Florida Drivers License, health insurance, Medicaid, income documentation, utility bills, court custody documents or residential lease listing household members)

  • Any other sources of income (i.e. – unemployment benefits, social security benefits, child support benefits, etc.)

  • Student(s) Social Security Number(s) for all members of the household

The AAA Scholarship

Documents required to apply are: 

  • Complete tax return for 2021

  • Proof of Florida residency 

  • Social security for all members of the household

  • Birth certificate for all the children applying.

  • Divorce Agreement documents, if applicable

The AAA Scholarship Foundation provides economic and other assistance to economically disadvantaged families and families of children with disabilities to enable them to select the best schools for their children.

AAA Scholarship Foundation (AAA), a private non-profit organization, is an approved Florida Scholarship Funding Organization (SFO).  AAA awards annual scholarships to eligible students entering eligible grade levels from eligible households to help them attend an eligible private school of their choice or assist with transportation costs to attend a public school outside the district. The scholarships for private schools are for tuition and fees.

VPK (Voluntery Pre-K) Scholarship

Florida was one of the first states in the country to offer free prekindergarten for all 4-year-olds regardless of family income. The Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program prepares early learners for success in kindergarten and beyond. Children must live in Florida and be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year to be eligible. The program helps build a strong foundation for school using educational materials that are geared to various stages in a child’s development.  For more information or to apply for VPK, please click on the button below.

Special Needs Scholarships

The Mckay Scholarship Program: In order to be eligible for the McKay Scholarship Program, a student must apply for the program prior to withdrawing from public school. The student must also have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) with an initial evaluation AND  have been enrolled and reported for

funding in a public school in the preceding school year as a K-12 student, Pre-K student receiving services in the district OR have been a Pre-K student reported as receiving Specialized Individual Services by OEL and was at least 4 years old.

The Gardiner Scholarship provides tuition and fees for students in private school with Autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, an intellectual disability, Phelan-MacDiarmid syndrome, Prayer-Willi syndrome, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, Williams syndrome or a high-risk child as defined in s. 393.063(23)(a), Florida Statutes.

  • Application filled out on websites​

  • Ketuba

  • Birth Certificate of parents and children

  • Parents ID

  • Acceptance letter from school

  • A recent photo of child

  • Report card from public school

Our Jewish Community Partners support families from Public School who would like to provide their children a Jewish education. Parents can qualify for up to $4,000 per child.

The Mel Landow Scholarship Fund

The Mel Landow Scholarship Fund, was founded in memory of Mordechai Shoyel Landow zl" in order to carry on his mission of providing Jewish Education for every Jewish Child.  We have collaborated with The Jewish Academy in Hollywood in order to provide Need Based Scholarships to Jewish Children who otherwise would not be able to attend the school.
